Medal of Honor Heroes 2 - We Got it New for $24.99

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is another of those games that we couldn't afford when it first came out - so we rented. But pricing has now come down on this excellent game. We got it for $24.00 CDN ($20.50 US) Brand New from our local Blockbuster.

Amazon pricing has it new for a little more - but used copies can be had for around $20 also. Ebay pricing also seems to hover in the $20-25 range for used copies.

With Call of Duty World at War out now for the Wii - the value of Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is even greater in our view. The best part of MoH2 is the 32 player multiplayer for the Wii. No other title has that level of Multiplayer on the Wii and it's just awesome.

Of course - it works best with the WiiZapper - but you can play without it too. So if you're looking for the best multiplayer shooter for the Wii - you're in luck -cause this is it and its cheap too.

Madden 09 All-Play for Wii - I got it for $19.99

When Madden 09 All-Play fire came out for the Wii - it retailed for about $49.99 - and no we couldn't afford to buy it. So we rented and it was fun but 7 day later (Thnx Blockbuster!) we gave it back.

The day after Xmas (called Boxing Day in Canada) we got lucky. A Roger Video store surprisingly had Madden 09 All-Play for Wii (pre-owned) for only...$19.99 CDN (so call that $16.40 US or so)

That's easily the best price we've seen yet anywhere for Madden. Amazon is typically in the $40 US plus range (but check out the widget top left as sometimes you can get lucky) and the best we have seen lately on eBay is around $35 US (click here for the latest eBay pricing again - sometimes you can get lucky too).

Wii Putting British Gamers in the Hospital - NONSENSE

Strange and printed in a British Newspaper.

According to The Sun,"
Dr Dev Mukerjee, of Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, said: “There has been a 100 per cent increase in patients complaining of Wii-itis.
“I’ve seen many patients aged between eight and 13 — and I’ve seen adults.
“It’s possible that Wii-itus may lead to rheumatism and arthritis in later life. Patients often have inflammation of the shoulder or wrist.”

Wii-itis? 100 percent increase? well if you start from zero you're going to be at 100 percent if you have just one patient come in I guess.

EA Uses Xbox Graphics to Advertise Tiger Woods 09 for the Wii

Electronic Arts has been public outed  by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority for misleading viewers over the graphics of its Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 Wii ads.

The ads featured Tiger Woods swinging a Wii remote, but showed Xbox 360 gameplay footage at the same time, giving the wrong impression of the visual quality of the Nintendo version of the game. The best part of this is the fact that EA said they did it because they thought that the Wii graphics sucked.

Here's the official statement from the ASA :
They{EA} pointed out that Tiger Woods was seen using a Wiimote throughout the ad and the only branding at the end of the ad was that of Nintendo Wii. They said, to avoid any confusion, they added text to inform viewers that the game was available on all formats. Electronic Arts maintained that they were demonstrating game action that was possible on all formats and did not show any gameplay that was impossible on a Wii. They explained that Wii footage would not be of broadcast quality, and the originating agency had thought it preferable to use the Xbox footage, which was closer to broadcast definition, than to "up the resolution" of Wii footage to broadcast quality.
SHAME ON YOU EA.

Tiger Woods PGA 09 for the Wii is a great game and stands on its own merits. This type of action by EA is just revolting.

NASCAR Kart Racing for Wii coming February 10, 2009

Sure Mario Kart is cool - but it's not NASCAR. In fact right now there is no NASCAR game avail for the Wii - but that's changing with NASCAR Kart Racing, the first and only NASCAR racing title available for the Wii - due out on February 10, 2009,

Designed exclusively for the Wii, NASCAR Kart Racing enables players to grab the steering wheel as a famed NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and speed through treacherous landscapes, wind around rocky cliffs, jump rivers and dodge falling boulders. Up to four players can go head-to-head, via split screen and in a mad dash to the checkered flag.

Unfortunately it's not clear whether there is WiFi multiplayer for this title - we really hope it is - Multiplayer is the best part of Mario Kart.

Winter Sports 2 : The Next Challenge out for the Wii and it's $30 or less

We're big fan of the original Winter Sports title, so now we're excited to see Winter Sports 2. More stuff and you can use the Balance Board (from the Wii Fit) too.

Winter Sports 2 features 15 disciplines spanning nine sports, 42 challenges and "boss" rivals to test the mettle of casual and hardcore gamers alike. Four-player hot seat and two-player split-screen play allow for multi player fun on the Wii, while a career mode lets players customize their in-game characters for a more realistic game play experience.

Winter Sports 2 features more events, more challenges, and use of the Balance Board accessory to deliver a dynamic, virtual thrill ride for popular sports like snowboarding and alpine skiing.

Amazon pricing is around $27 new and over on eBay pricing is about the same.

Hockey Allstar Shootout Comes to WiiWare

Yes we know there still aren't any great multiplayer online hockey games for the wii and yes that sucks.

But if you're just looking for a little puck and stick fun, there is a new WiiWare title out this week Hockey Allstar Shootout (Big Blue Bubble Inc., 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points). No it's not EA or 2K sports, but it's cheap and it's fun.

Here's the official lowdown:

Use the Wii Remote™ controller as a stick and take the shot as you compete in three exciting Hockey Skills Challenges. In Head 2 Head, it's just you versus the best goalies in the world in a five-puck shootout. Race against the clock to post the most goals in the fastest time. The three difficulty levels will place you against three increasingly talented goalies, each donning the jersey of their home country. In two-player mode, each player will take a turn as shooter and as goalie, and the player who scores the most goals in five shots is the winner. In Sharp Shooter, you post a high score in one of three difficulty levels by breaking as many targets as you can. Each time a shot fails to break a target, an X will appear in the upper left corner. Three misses and the game is over. Power Shot has you take your best shot and watch the Shot-Speed Clock light up. You have three attempts to blast the fastest shot you can, and only the best speeds will grace the high score list.

Star Wars Clone Wars Light Saber Duel for Wii - SUCKS

The history of Star Wars video games is one of hit and miss.
Star Wars The Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels for the Wii is a

BIG MISS.

The multiplayer gameplay sucks. The basic swordplay is sluggish and not fluid - both from a controller and from a graphics point of view.

special moves are bogus

there is no wifi option either.
The campaign single player mode is basic enough and might satisfy a ten year old for an hour beyond that this game has no value.

This game is completely the opposite of the Force Unleashed which is awesome - and the swordplay multiplayer mode for the wii is superior to the crap that is Lightsaber duels.

Ready 2 Rumble : Revolution coming to Wii in 2009

Ready 2 Rumble was one of the great Sega Saturn games - then it moved to Dreamcast and other platforms - and for the last 4 years has been gone - dead gonzo.

But Atari is bringing it back...but it's a little late in our view.

EA has FACEBREAKER out now and it's pretty much what Ready 2 Rumble used to be.

Ohhh and don't forget the ultimate Nintendo retro fighting game is coming back to you  - that's right Punch Out ! coming in 2009 too.

So will anyone really care that Ready 2 Rumble is back? I dunno - it all depends on the 'extra' features. Facebreaker for example does not have online play. If either Punch Out or Ready 2 Rumble adds that in - bingo we'll have a winner.

Ghostbusters for Wii out June 2009

I ain't afraid of no ghost - or are wii?

A few game sites got some advance looks at the upcoming Ghostbusters video game from Atari (talk about two names from the past..). Over at Kataku , they thought the Wii version was pretty good and wasn't a total letdown from the PS3/XBOX 360 version.

That's a good thing - Ghostbusters is a title that we're looking forward to here - yes it was a cheesy 80's movie - but there never was a game...and if you're a comic book fan - there is actually a comic book series - Ghostbusters: The Other Side  that is now out that takes the story to a whole new level. In it the Ghostbusters are killed and becomes Ghosts themselves. neat twist ain't it?

We can only hope that the new game has a module/level that plays off the new comic, but no word yet on the full gameplay.

SPACE INVADERS GET EVEN Launches Today - no Quarters Required

Yes i was an original Space Invaders junkie - and yes i have been looking forward to this new game out today - Space Invaders Get Even - it's been available since early November in Europe. This flips around the classic model - so this time around you get to play as the invader instead of the human defender. It has a list price of 500 Wii points which is about $5 US - what a great deal...
"In SPACE INVADERS GET EVEN, we took familiar features that players have come to know and love over the years, and created an entirely new experience out of it," said Hiroshi Aoki, the producer of SPACE INVADERS GET EVEN from Taito Corporation in a statement. "We hope that fans enjoy getting to know the Invaders better with this new step in the continuing evolution of SPACE INVADERS."

It's a single player game but players can put their skills to the test by comparing scores against fans around the globe via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The plan is also to have expansion packs come out in 2009. Three mission packs will be available as add-on content for 500 Wii Points each, offering a total of seven unique missions when added to the main product.
